One thing I hate is seeing grain-fed
feedlot beef in large health food chains being labeled…what
I call "mis-labeled"…as grass-fed. It happens
a lot.
I'm a 100% grass-fed beef farmer as well as a veterinarian
who loves animals and wants nothing but the best for
our animal companions and families. That's why I serve
on the board of the American Grassfed Assocation
to promote a 100% USDA grass-fed standard for labeling.
Many large corporations want to continue to label their
feedlot beef as grass-fed beef, so they are pushing
for an 80% USDA grass-fed standard for labeling. Why?
Because a 100% standard is extremely hard and costly
to maintain.
To make matters worse typical supermarket beef is often
irradiated and chemically bathed. Also, grain diets
fed to feedlot cattle are inhumane and effect the healthiness
of the beef.

Grass farmers rotate cattle on
almost a daily basis so that the cows eat fresh grass
all their lives but don't deplete their grazing areas.
All this care takes costly manpower, special planting
and many months of extra time for our cattle to
reach market weight.
As grass farmers, we believe in a species-appropriate
diet for our cattle. Not only is this diet humane
and healthy for our cattle, the meat from grass-fed
beef is healthier for your pet and a good practice from
an environmental standpoint.
As raw food BARF dog owners, we strongly believe in
a species-appropriate diet for our dogs. Our dogs were
meant to eat an enzyme-rich diet from pasture-raised
sources of meat, not chemically treated, preservative-laden
processed canned or dry food.

pastures.

if you live out in the country, but city folks rarely
