Testimony
from a BARF raw dog owner:
My first golden retriever was fed a homemade cooked
meat and grain diet. It was time consuming to prepare
and he was allergic to grains.
From the dog books I read, the recipes were emulating
commercial grain filled dog food rather than emulating
what dogs would eat in the wild. I am absolutely sure
that my first golden would have led a healthier life
if I had known about raw dog food without grains.
My current golden is a BARF raw food dog. He eats AmericanDogTreats.com
grass fed beef, raw meaty bones, raw beef cubes and
beef blend. For variety, I use organic raw chicken,
free range eggs, quail, turkey, blended veggies and
a few whole food supplements.
Since learning of the benefits of pasture raised beef,
I plan to venture out and meet some other grass farmers
for the other raw meats and eggs to buy direct. I want
to feed my golden species appropriate food from grass
farmers who feed humane species appropriate diets.
My first golden on a cooked grain, meat and veggie diet
was constantly at the vet with flea, ear infections,
congestion, hot spots and arthritis problems. The years
of heartache, worry and vet visits were a nightmare.
It was so hard watching my beloved golden decline and
wanting more than anything to improve his life.
In comparison, my BARF raw food dog is 7 1/2 years old
and I have never taken him to a vet except for one minor
injury. So far he has never even had a flea problem.
His health is exceptional and people comment on how
calm he is especially for a golden. His coat is gorgeous
and he runs like the wind with no hint of arthritis.
I share this testimony in the hopes that others will
discover the benefits of BARF raw food diets and have
more years of joy with their precious pets.

"I've
got shocking news for you -- I'm a veterinarian and
I feed raw meaty bones and raw beef to my dogs and cats."
I believe if you want to build a dog's health that you
start with healthy meat and bones -- RAW, not cooked.
If you're surprised, you really shouldn't be. Dogs in
nature don't cook their food. Their digestive systems
were intended to process RAW MEAT and BONES, not rancid
fats, cooked grains, diseased animal parts and cattle
pumped with antibiotics, growth hormones and steroids.
|
Don't undermine your dog's natural
good health with unnatural, mass-produced food!
|
Many people worry
about E coli and bacteria in raw foods as if dogs were
humans. They worry about shards of bone ripping their
dogs' intestines. You may think that cooking a dog's
makes it safer.
You're wrong.
The problems above aren't limited to raw food. As a
veterinarian, I have seen my fair share of patients
with problems from COOKED bones. Despite what pet food
companies and raw dog food advocates say, dogs can choke
on KIBBLE just as easily as on raw food and raw meaty
bones.
(This is an important reason why all pets should be
supervised during meal time)
For optimum health, dogs need a natural, enzyme-rich
diet. But what no one in the manufacturing
sector is talking about is this: cooking destroys
enzymes. Brand "X"
"Well, I'll just go to the butcher and buy some raw
meat," you say?
Not so fast!
Typical supermarket beef is feedlot beef. This
means that the cattle were fed grain and food that are
NOT part of their natural grass diets. Feedlot cattle
are pumped with antibiotics, steroids and growth
hormones to quickly grow to market weight and survive
the filthy feedlot conditions. Drug residues
can still be found in this supermarket beef that you
feed your dog.
Even health food store beef is usually grain-fed
feedlot beef marketed as "grass fed" or "free range."
Shop At the Farm!
To ensure that you're getting true grass-fed beef, your
best bet is to find a trusted farmer with pasture-raised
cattle. Easier said than done if you're a city dweller
who doesn't venture out to the country on a regular
basis.
That's where American Dog Treats comes in.
As a veterinarian, rancher and owner of a small USDA
meat processing facility in the Ozarks, I enjoy good
relationships with many area farmers who raise their
cattle in grass pastures on a diet that's antibiotic-free,
hormone-free, and steroid-free.
I know from personal experience the commitment these
farmers have to pure and natural meat, and I know that
they're dedicated to providing their human customers
with the best possible product.
I also know how much people love their pets. That's
why we decided to offer the farmers' USDA human grade
beef to dog owners who want the finest beef for canine
companions.
Our raw dog food beef for BARF diets is the same
human grade beef sold to fine restaurants and to
local patrons of our store. We did a special convenient
blend of ground beef, liver, hearts, and tongue
for our live food BARF dogs, but even that blend is
labeled for human consumption. |
 |
Our farmers must raise their
cattle humanely on grass pastures with NO FEEDLOTS
|
 |
Our pasture-raised beef contains
NO unhealthy preservatives or additives.
|
 |
Pasture-raised beef is considered
a negligible risk beef for E coli or mad cow disease.
|
 |
American Dog Treats' beef has
NOT been chemically bathed or irradiated which
is the practice of many large corporate processors.
|
 |
We sterilize our facility and
process our beef individually by butchers.

"Self-Cleaning"
Bones
Dogs' teeth are cleaned naturally as they remove the
beef and marrow from meaty bones, helping preserve their
bright smiles and sweet breath. Most of our pet owners
just discard the bone when the beef and marrow have
been removed. Giving Back
In addition to feeding their dogs an unsurpassed natural
diet carefully formulated for good pet health and enjoying
the convenience of having fresh beef shipped directly
from the farm to their homes, when customers select
Gourmet Natural BARF Raw Dog Food and Treats
from American, they'll be supporting the "artisan" work
of small local farmers and producers.
With Gourmet Natural BARF Raw Dog Food and Treats,
everyone wins -- consumers, farmers, and most of all…our
dogs!
