How to Travel
with
Your BARF Live Food Dog
|
With
a family of 6 children, the Whisnant's know a thing or two about traveling
with our furry friends. Feeding a live food dog while exploring your
world poses a few extra challenges but the obstacles are fairly easy
to overcome. Here are a few of our tips:
|
|
Coolers that run off of your car's cigarette
lighter are a great way to store human as well as barf raw dog food
for your trip.
|
|
Recreational vehicles have refrigerators
and ample room for coolers so carrying our barf dog food is no
problem. We have discovered that traveling in an RV on a long
trip is much more enjoyable with a large family and pets . . .
try renting one from a dog friendly RV dealership for your next
trip.

|
Traveling by car? Freeze a week's
supply of frozen meaty bones and raw meat in one huge zip lock
freezer bag. Place the meat bag in a cooler and as the week
progresses, your supply will gradually thaw for the current day's
supply. As an added bonus, the frozen chunk of meat will keep
your veggie mix and human supplies cool.
|
|
No room for pooch food? Visit
local organic grocery stores. Free
veggie pulp from the juice bar and organic raw meaty bones make
perfect takeout meals for your pooch. At the same time, buy
salads, soups or sandwiches for your family. Children and
their faithful friends love outdoor picnics .
|
|
Dog friendly vacation homes or suite
hotels almost always have refrigerators to store your barf dog food
stash so either bring your own food supply from home or buy when you
arrive.

Dogs are great for keeping children
occupied on long trips. Plus dogs cause us to take more hikes,
explore local neighborhoods and get to know the natives. Some
of our most enjoyable trips have been with our children and dogs so
don't leave Fido home.
Happy trails to you and your dog,
